Writing Blog Up
January 22, 2010Just as a note, my writing site Still Believing is up with one short story and a follow up chapter number one. The link for it is in the Pages section of this blog.
I plan to finish this story (obviously) and illustrate it in the end too so keep checking and I’ll get my butt in gear to finish it!

Warcraft Portraits
January 7, 2010I think it’s about time I put these up (and updated really). All of them done in the past year and in order, each is more experimenting and me trying different techniques.
First is my old character, a paladin, the basis of the digital painting was to recreate a pencil drawing being coloured with watercolour – mainly using a base coat covered by a lot of layers. The reference used for this was a stock image (as the same with all of them) and a screenshot of the character. The armor was made up, altered somewhat from what it is in game to make the chest piece part plate and part chain (allowing flexibility) as opposed to just solid plate.
Next is another character of mine, a mage played as a dragon. Not happy with this due to using less layers and so a less solid colour, also the fire failed a little. Still, first male character I’d done. Again, the robe was adapted from the game robe.
Next was another’s character, complete with a background done using a specialised brush. Also first one where I gave a creature the armor from the game. It was changed too to make it a little less OTT, less carving on it too but tried to keep the colours the same between the rider and his horse.
Next was done as a present. Also an experiment for doing just black and white ‘colouring’. Very pleased with the cloth however think it could be darker, and the black deeper. The sword was a trace of a screenshot of the ‘real’ sword in game.
This one was commissioned for someone’s character profile on a game site, this time not an elf but a human warlock. Probably my favorite one as it’s very much an expansion on the previous one and the robe was very fun to do. As was the little imp on the staff.
And finally, my most recent one. This time adding just a little bit of colour to the spelled blades using the Colour layer format and a lot of use of the smudge tool.
I’m working on another character but this time from a different game. This one I hope to show W.I.P. to actually keep my blog updates…. there will be traditional work up here too when I get my scanner back next week.
